In 2020, Bobbie and family lost their beloved Justin at just 25 years old to sudden cardiac arrest, a condition that could have been detected with a routine heart screening. While searching for answers, Bobbie heard Julie Walker on WITF/NPR and became aware of the Peyton Walker Foundation. That awareness changed their lives.
They soon learned that Justin wasn’t the only one in their family with an undetected heart condition. Bobbie’s husband, Jeff, had already survived an aortic aneurysm and knew their daughter, Liz, and granddaughter, Holly, needed screenings. The Foundation’s Youth Heart Screening event made that possible.
At the screening, the medical team discovered Holly also had an aortic aneurysm and immediately coordinated her care with CHOP. That discovery prompted Liz to get tested as well. Her screening revealed the same genetic condition. In July 2025, she underwent life-saving open-heart surgery, just like her father. Because of the Peyton Walker Foundation, both Liz and Holly received critical diagnoses and timely treatment.
