We recently donated an AED and wall-mounted cabinet to the Veterans of PA Tiny Home Community. Bill Odoms, our certified CPR trainer, provided CRP training to the VOPA staff at Just For Today Recovery and Veterans Support Services facility in Lemoyne.

Nestled along the Susquehanna River on a tranquil five-acre parcel, VOPA is building a village of 15 tiny homes and community center for Veterans experiencing homelessness. VOPA’s innovative “Veterans Grove” community is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of each Veteran through a therapeutic model that recreates the stable support network offered to the veterans before they left the service.

“The average age of a veteran experiencing homelessness is 53 years and the average age of a heart attack is 65 years. Knowing that our staff is serving this age demographic my Clinical Director Angel McLaughlin and I felt strongly that we should be prepared to deal with a potential cardiac arrest scenario at our facility. Emergencies occur when least expected and quick and decisive action by properly trained staff may just save a life.” says Bill Habacivch, Executive Director, VOPA.
